Aris Limassol F.C.

The Aris FC Limassol is a Cypriot sports club from Limassol and a founding member of the Cyprus Football Association. The colors of the club are green and white. The association applies to Cyprus as a " lift team " because he was from or climb to the first division in all years between 1997 and 2006 and since 2009, either in the second division. Aris Limassol is also known for its chess team, which is one of the best in Cyprus. In addition, the association maintains an internationally renowned choir.

History

Between 1954 and 1970, the club integral part of the first division, the fourth place in the table, however, was in 1956 with the exception of a season though should remain the best result of the season for the most threatened by relegation team from the second largest city on the island for years. After relegation in 1970 after the 1972 revival and both 1977 and 1979 was the chronically cash-strapped club again occupy the fourth place. After a weak season in 1981 it went again for a year in the second division.

The biggest success Aris 1989, when the Cypriot Cup final was reached. There is, however, had to concede defeat with 2:3 local rivals AEL Limassol. For the following season, Aris secured the services of star striker Oleh Blokhin aging Ukrainian ( European Footballer 1975) and reached with him again in fourth place. Blokhin ended his career after the season at Aris, the Cypriot and Greek football, however, still remained connected over the years as a coach.

1993 rose again from Aris, however, managed to immediately re- ascent. Since the descent 1997, the club annually shuttled between first and second league. It was not until 2007, Aris was able to catch and sat down with the eighth place in the table in the first division established - to 2009 again, the descent was sealed. The direct re-emergence in 2010 was followed by the re- descend, 2011, the resurgence and 2012 rose from Aris again.

Compared to the other clubs from Limassol Aris has a very small but respected for his loyal following fan base that is like " the 300 of Leonidas " referred to by the media as - Spartan based on the famous 300 soldiers, the Persian army stayed at Thermopylae.
