Arnstein, Saxony-Anhalt

Arnstein is the name of a district town in the district of Mansfeld- South Harz (Saxony- Anhalt), which was created on January 1, 2010. The namesake of the city is the castle of the same in the district Harkerode.

Geography

The city is the northernmost municipality in the district of Mansfeld- South Harz, it is between Hettstedt in the south and Aschersleben in the north. The western part Arnstein is in the resin, the resin in the eastern foothills. In the western part, the streams have carved deep, branched, and in some places steep valleys. In the eastern part of the site falls away to Wippertal. East of the Wipper it rises again. History

Arnstein was formed from the voluntary group of ten municipalities of the administrative community Wipper - A. The name derives from the new unified community is the old county Arnstein.

The merger took place against the background of the municipal reform in Saxony -Anhalt and the associated resolution of the administrative community Wipper - A in favor of a unified community. The area change agreement was signed by ten of the twelve member municipalities.
