Arpavon

Arpavon is a commune with 84 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) of the department of Drôme in the Rhône -Alpes.

Geography

Arpavon located in the south of the Drôme Provençale in a valley between the mountains of Baronnies at an average altitude of 773 meters above sea level, 39 kilometers north-east of Carpentras, and about 10 kilometers northeast of Nyons, the capital of the arrondissement and canton. The village is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sainte- Jalle, Curnier and Montaulieu. The municipality has an area of 13.45 square kilometers. The river Ennuye, a tributary of the Eygues, flows to the west of the town center and on the D64 along.

History

Arpavon was founded in the early Middle Ages and 1216 first officially mentioned as Castrum Arpaonis.
