Art Aragon

Arthur Anthony Aragon ( born November 13, 1927 in Belen, New Mexico, † March 25, 2008 in Northridge, Los Angeles ) was an American professional boxer. He had the nickname " Golden Boy ".

Life

Aragon grew up in East Los Angeles. He was married five times and had six children. He was particularly friendly with Mamie Van Doren and cultivated friendships with Hollywood stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, Betty Martin and Jayne Mansfield.

Since 1944 he was a boxer. In 1950 he became acquainted with two wins (technical knockouts ) over the Mexican Enrique Bolaños in the Olympic Hall of the Olympic Summer Games in 1932 by Los Angeles in front of 10,000 spectators. His first professional fight at lightweight, he played in May 1944 against the French, Frenchy Rene in Los Angeles. He won eleven more fights. Only in October 1944, he was beaten by Bert White. He boxed including against Tommy Campbell, Jesse Flores, Teddy " Redtop " Davis, Jimmy Carter and Carmen Basilio. In 1960 he resigned as an active boxer. He was able to record 90 wins, including 62 with a knockout, 20 losses and 6 draws. With this record, he was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990.

He later played with in films like Fat City or To Hell and Back and American television series such as Quincy, and Baretta Barnaby Jones.
