Aryanah

Ariana ( أريانة, Aryanah DMG ) is a city in northwestern Tunisia, whose metropolitan area is part of the agglomeration of the Tunisian capital, Tunis. It is the capital of the eponymous province Ariana and is inhabited by about 100,000 people.

Geography

Ariana is situated in northern Tunisia near the Mediterranean. The city is separated from the Gulf of Tunis by the shallow salt lake sebkha Ariana.

History

The origins go back to the dynasty of the Zirids. Got its name, the city in the 5th century AD during the reign of the Vandals in North Africa.
