Within the municipality in the Laufach, the largest tributary flows in a westerly direction at all, whereupon the river swings west to south-westerly course. Later he moved through the market town of Goldbach. It continues the A3 from Würzburg to Frankfurt am Main runs parallel. To comply with the noise limits for the expansion to six lanes, the traffic route was housed there. To this end, the river bed has been moved several times and also straightened. Near the sewage treatment plant in dam and just now in the field of Mainaschaff It flows from the right and in a south-westerly direction to 108.5 m above sea level. NN in the Main.

Aschaffmündung

The old Aschaff was before the year 1920 through the middle of the area of today's wastewater treatment plant of the city of Aschaffenburg and there led directly into the motherboard. It formed the natural border between Mainaschaff and the city of Aschaffenburg.

During the construction of the former barrage floor City / Mainaschaff at the beginning of the 20s the mouth of the Aschaff to 2 km has been laid in the water of the dam. For this purpose, a new flume was built parallel to Main, the course can be seen in part today between Main and bike path.

Early 70s was moved again to the construction of the current barrage Kleinostheim the mouth of the Aschaff. The Aschaff was heavily burdened by waste water from the paper industry and has introduced a lot of suspended matter with him. The nearby former power plant feared a deterioration of the cooling water intake. Therefore, the Aschaff was conducted in an artificial, main parallel flume below the withdrawal point on a concrete pipe into the Main. About a division structure with weir the water masses were led directly into the motherboard at high water.

The 600 m long spiral a new bed for the Aschaff was created in 2001. The Aschaff opens again directly into the motherboard without going through a technical structure that interferes with the natural migratory instinct of river animals. At the same time the previous, artificial flume was filled along the bike path. The trees were obtained.
