Spitziger Spleenwort ( Asplenium onopteris )

The Spitziger Spleenwort ( Asplenium onopteris ) is a plant of the genus strip ferns belonging to the family of Streifenfarngewächse ( Aspleniaceae ).

Description

The plant with reddish-brown stem reaches a height of 10 to 50 cm. The leaf surface of the fronds are leathery and dark green shiny. In outline they are triangular - ovate and 2 to 4 times pinnate. The Fiederenden are extended ( bunked ) and curved against the Spreitenspitze to. The Spreitabschnitte are serrated mucronate. The sori are located near the center ribs arranged veins. The spores mature from September to June.

Occurrence

The circulation area covers the whole of the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands. As the site shaded rock crevices are preferred in woods and thickets.
