AstraZeneca

AstraZeneca is a major international healthcare business, which originated from the Swedish Astra AB and Zeneca PLC of the UK in 1999. AstraZeneca was formed in 1993 by the pharmaceutical division of the British chemical company Imperial Chemical Industries. Headquartered in London, the research and development department is located in Södertälje, south of Stockholm. AstraZeneca is the fifth largest drug manufacturers in the world.

Locations

In Germany AstraZeneca maintains a location in Wedel with approximately 625 employees in the indoor and outdoor service. Due to changed economic and health policies in a reduction of approximately 400 positions is done in 2012.

AstraZeneca maintained a location in Plank town (about 430 people ) in Baden- Württemberg. On 26 April 2007 it was announced that the location Plank city is sold or closed by 2009. The site was sold to International Chemical Investors Group ( ICIG ), operating since February 1, 2008 under the name Corden Pharma GmbH.

Syngenta

On 2 December 1999 it was announced that the agricultural areas of Novartis and AstraZeneca outsourced and the world's largest agricultural company Syngenta, are headquartered in Basel, merged.
