Atlantida is a seaside resort in the south of Uruguay.

Geography

It is located on the banks of the Río de la Plata, on the Costa de Oro in the department of Canelones. Atlantida is located about 45 km east of the capital Montevideo near Parque del Plata. By the Aeropuerto Internacional de Carrasco, the airport of Montevideo, the distance is less than 30 km.

History

The development of the present-day area of the city began in 1748. Later on there was the Jesuit Estancia San Ignacio. 1908 saw the establishment of a company to its stakeholders and Juan P. Fabini belonged to promote forestry in the surrounding areas. Four years later, they began with the subdivision and sale of land. 1913 was a hotel on the Rambla. Originally the name Las Tosca supporting, Atlantida acquired its current name in 1915. On September 7, 1967 by Law Nr.13.609 their classification in the category " Ciudad ".

Education
