August Friedrich Ferdinand von der Goltz

August Friedrich Ferdinand Graf von der Goltz ( born July 20, 1765 in Dresden, † January 17, 1832 in Berlin) was a Prussian statesman.

Life

August Friedrich Ferdinand was descended from the noble family of the Goltz. His parents were the Electorate of Saxony Colonel, Director of the Fire and landscape firm Checkout Checkout Carl Friedrich Graf von der Goltz and his wife Anna Maria von Rummel ( 1735-1809 ). He studied in Leipzig and Frankfurt ( Oder), occurred in 1787 in the Prussian civil service and held successively the posts embassy in Poland, Denmark, Sweden and Russia.

In 1807 he followed the Tsar Alexander I to the headquarters in East Prussia and took over when Napoleon at the peace negotiations at Tilsit the Zuziehung the Minister Karl August von Hardenberg refused, the portfolio of foreign affairs, which he shared with the Count Friedrich Adolf von Kalckreuth the Tilsit peace graduated.

In 1808 he attended the Congress of Erfurt as Prussian plenipotentiary, where he obtained a reduction of Kontributionszahlungen to France for 20 million francs. He was with Louise Juliane von Schack Widow of Heinrich Siegmund of Czettritz and Neuhaus († November 22, 1787 ) since 1796. The couple had
