August Friedrich Gfrörer

August Friedrich Gfrörer ( born March 5, 1803 in Calw, † July 6, 1861 in Karlsbad) was a historian and member of the Frankfurt National Assembly.

Life

Gfrörer studied Protestant theology at Tübingen and in 1829 became vicar in the city of Stuttgart. In 1846 he was appointed full professor of history at the University of Freiburg. In 1845 he was appointed a corresponding member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences, 1857 Foreign Member.

From 20th May 1848 to May 30, 1849 Gfrörer belonged to the National Assembly as MP for Ehingen.

1853 Gfrörer converted to Catholicism. His religious and political works, he wrote mostly under the pseudonym Ernst Frey mouth.
