Augustin Sagna

Augustin Sagna ( born October 23, 1920 in Bignona, Region Ziguinchor, Senegal, † December 12, 2012 in Ziguinchor, Senegal ) was Bishop of Ziguinchor.

Life

Augustin Sagna came after visiting the school in Fogny the Minor Seminary in Ziguinchor one, later in the major seminary in Koumi in Upper Volta. He received on 17 March 1950 in Ségou, Mali, the priesthood, and was first a teacher and Superior of the Minor Seminary in Ziguinchor. He was vicar general and canon.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 29 September 1966 Bishop of Ziguinchor. The Archbishop of Dakar, Hyacinthe Thiandoum, donated to him on 15 January 1967, the episcopal ordination at the seminary of Saint- Louis, Ziguinchor; Were co-consecrators Luc Auguste Sangare, Archbishop of Bamako, and Prosper Dodds CSSp, Bishop of Saint- Louis du Sénégal. His episcopal motto was: Omnia in Christo ("Everything in Christ ").

On 23 October 1995, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related. He committed to continue as a pastor in Cabrousse.
