Augustus Molade Akiwumi

Augustus Molade Akiwumi was a lawyer, judge and politician in the British colony of the Gold Coast and later Ghana, Botswana and Kenya.

Akiwumi was born in Nigeria, but received the Ghanaian nationality. His education completed Akiwumi in England at Queen 's College, Taunton in Somerset from 1910. Subsequently, he studied law at the University of Cambridge. In 1921 he was admitted to the Bar at Lincoln 's Inn in London. He worked as a bank clerk after studying in the Midland Bank in Ludgate Hill in London and later returned to Ghana.

Akiwumi was established in February 1958, the second Speaker of the Ghanaian Parliament and held this position until June 1960. Successor and third speaker in Parliament, Joseph Richard Asiedu, predecessor of Akiwumi was Emmanuel Charles Quist. In the official dress of the parliament speaker Akiwumi was imaged on 18 January 1960, the cover of Life Magazine.

Akiwumi worked in the office of Lord President of the Court of Justice of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa ( COMESA). Akiwumi was a judge at the Court of Appeal ( Court of Appeal ) in Botswana and Kenya. He also held the position of Chairman of the Legal Committee on the study of the Tribal Clashes in Kenya and was a member of the Eminent African Jurists, who were responsible for the draft minutes of the Court of Justice of the African Union. Akiwumi was chairman of the tribunal to examine the behavior of judges at the Court of Appeal in Kenya. Akiwumi was also a member of the Kenyan Commission of Justice Service ( Kenyan Judicial Service Commission ).

Akiwumi was married to Helen Kabuki Ocansey.
