Autostrada A17 (Italy)

The Autostrada A17 (Italian for, A17 ') is a former Italian highway leading from Naples to Bari. She crossed the Italian boot from west to east, thus linking the Tyrrhenian to the Adriatic Sea.

The A17 leading from Naples eastward over Avellino and Grottaminarda way to Canosa. Here she changed her course southward and ended at Bari. The A17 was opened on 11 December 1969.

When the A14 between Lanciano was opened (south of Pescara) and Canosa 1973, a continuous connection between Bologna and Bari was born. Thus the section of the A17 from Canosa to Bari part of the A14. The rest of the route (Naples -Canosa ) was classified as A16 (Autostrade dei due Mari ). This number had previously held today southern branch of the A12 between Rome and Civitavecchia.

The number A17 has since not forgive again.
