Auverland

Auverland (currently, the official name Panhard General Defense) was a French manufacturer of military vehicles, and SUVs.

Company History

The company was founded in the early 1980s by François Servanin in Saint- Germain- Laval. In 1984, the license of the Auverland until then Cournil built in Aurillac SUV, which was also produced in parallel under the brand UMM, also under Cournil license in Portugal since 1977. The Cournil SUV was first to A2 and later evolved into the A3.

In the late 1980s expanded Auverland its activities in the military field and took over the French military vehicle manufacturer Sovamag, who produced the TC10- terrain vehicle at that time. The brand name Sovamag was maintained and the TC10 continued to produce were provided with appropriate nameplates.

In the late 1990s Auverland came into financial difficulties after you had taken with product versions for the civilian market. In 2001, a restart of the brand under the name Société Nouvelle des Automobiles Auverland ( SNAA ). Now, the focus was entirely on the military market and on public services such as police, gendarmerie and fire brigades.

With the production of the Petit Véhicule Protégé (PVP ) or A4 AVL for the French Forces Auverland was commercially successful and was able in January 2005, the Department Panhard armored vehicles ( SCMPL Panhard ) of the PSA group take over. With this acquisition, now came the Peugeot P4 in the product portfolio of Auverland. On 30 September 2005, the name Auverland was eventually abandoned and the company renamed Panhard General Defense. The new company logo is remembered on the Auverland tradition and took over the rising chamois from the old Auverland logo in slightly modified form.
