Axel Lillie

Axel Lillie ( born July 23, 1603 Castle Löfstad, † December 20, 1662 ) was a Swedish politician and field marshal.

Axel Lillie 1619 Page of Gustav II Adolf. He quickly made a career and was promoted from lieutenant to colonel in four years. In 1635 he became major general. Lillie took in 1642 at the Battle of Breitenfeld and made ​​a valuable contribution to Lennart Torstenssons victory. In 1643 he became vice governor and 1652 Governor General of Swedish Pomerania.

Axel Lillie had the palace built Löfstad. He got in 1652 the county Lilli Borg and in 1655 governor of Halland. Because of his poor health he did not want to leave, despite pressure by the King and the Imperial Council Löfstad why he was replaced in 1656 as governor of Halland by Erik Stenbock.

Lillie was in 1657 promoted to field marshal. 1662 the Swedish title of Count, he was awarded. In 1661 he became Governor General of Livonia.
