Johan Oxenstierna

Graf ( swedish Greve ) Johan Axelsson Oxenstierna af Södermöre (* June 24, 1611 in Stockholm, † December 5, 1657 in Wismar ) was a Swedish statesman. His father was Axel Oxenstierna.

Life

After completing his studies in Uppsala, he was the Chancellor himself, his father, introduced into the statesmanlike life while he was in Prussia in 1629. 1631 he was on the recommendation of his father and with the instructions provided on study trips to the Netherlands, was sent to England and France. After his return Oxenstierna did his military service in Germany under his brother Gustaf Horn and 1632 Colonel of the Red Regiment ( swedish Röda regementet ).

Against the will of his father, he was appointed in 1639 to the Council and thus became the Reichskanzlerrat.
