Axente Sever, Sibiu

Axente Sever (deprecated Frâua; German woman village, Hungarian Asszonyfalva ) is a municipality in the district of Sibiu in Transylvania, Romania.

Location

Mrs. village is located in Sibiu County, 36 km north of the district capital Sibiu ( Hermannstadt) and 11 km south of Medias ( Medias ). The village is situated on the right bank of the visa ( Weissbach ), a left tributary of the Târnava Mare (Grand Kokel ). The main street runs parallel to Weissbach. Perpendicular leads an alley to the east. The fortified church is located at the interface.

History

The place was in 1305 as " Assonfalva " First mentioned as a humble community of Apafi family. 1516 was "Mrs. Dorff " a free community of Media shear chair. 1533 was one woman village with 400 inhabitants, of which 61 farmers, 4 widows, 2 shepherds and a miller. 1885 Raiffeisen Association was founded in the village woman. The original Romanian name " Frâua " ajar phonetically to the German until 1970, officially in use. Since then, the village bears the name of a Romanian revolutionary (see figures ).

The first time in 1322 " Church of All Saints ' Church was mentioned in two phases. The early church is a High Gothic hall church, built of rubble and river stone. In very rare design, a three-storey bell tower was erected on the square choir. The thickness of the tower wall on the ground floor is 1.6 m. In the south of the tower remains of a chapel are included. Access to the upper floors is via a built- in the Western Wall Trappe. In 1490 the church was fortified rebuilt. It was one of the most imposing fortified churches in Transylvania. The hall and choir walls were increased about two storeys and thus created space for military missiles. The rise in the west wall was provided with a portcullis, the spillways are still to be seen. At the same time the bell tower was rebuilt in a mighty bulwark and incorporated into the military complex. This includes the egg-shaped Bering ( curtain wall ), whose walls are 6-8 m high. Under the courtyard sloping shed roof there were residential and pantries. Each chamber has its own entrance and is connected through an opening in the ceiling to the wall-walk under the shed roof. From here, the loopholes and watering holes were served.

In the second half of the 18th century to the organ loft was bricked on the west side of the church, at the parapet musical angels are seen. On the south and north wall a wooden gallery was built.

The Baroque altar is by Stephan Valepagi from the year 1777. The main image presented the crucified Christ represents, at whose feet Mary his mother, and the disciple John. Right and left frame per two Corinthian columns one the apostles Paul and Peter. Under the Crucifixion panel, on the Pedrella, a supper of image is seen, and the conclusion in the upper picture shows the Risen One. The masonry pulpit is decorated with two images of saints.

1777 built of Sibiu organ builder Johann Hann a Baroque organ was rebuilt in 1926 by the company Ludwig Wegenstein to a pneumatic organ. In the bell tower are three bells. The big bell of 1699, bears the inscription: " Gloria in excelsis Deo et in terra pax hominibus ".

1964, extensively renovated church and church castle. The church was badly damaged during a storm on August 4, 2009.
