The Connellan Airport ( Ayers Rock Airport also ) is about seven kilometers north of the village of Australian Hotel Yulara in the Northern Territory situated airport.

History

The name goes back to the entrepreneur Edward Connellan (1912-1983), who in 1959 received permission to open a motel and operate an airstrip north of Uluru. The airfield is owned by the Northern Territory Government and was leased to the Voyager Resorts and Hotels Pty Ltd, part of the Australian GPT Group.

The airport is an important base for travelers on their way to the Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park -. The Connellan Airport is only used for inneraustralische flights and as a base for sightseeing flights over the nearby National Park. The nearest international airports are in Darwin ( 1926 km N) and Adelaide ( 1582 km S).
