Cairns Airport ( IATA code CNS, ICAO code YBCS ) is an international Australian Airport 7 km north of the center of the city of Cairns, Queensland. With over 3.6 million passengers ( 7-2009/6-2010 ) he is in seventh place in Australia.
From German-speaking countries Cairns is not directly accessible. Qantas and Jetstar Airways fly him via Sydney, Singapore and Melbourne, Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong. Cairns offers many connections to Australian airports; next to it is Papua New Guinea served (as of December 2010).
The airport was previously operated by the Cairns Port Authority, but sold in December 2008 by the Queensland Government to a private consortium, the North Queensland Airports Group.
