Azadi Tower

The Freedom Tower (Persian برج آزادی burj -e azadi " Freedom Tower ") is the landmark of modern Tehran, capital of Iran. It is located in Tarascht district.

The tower was 1969-1971 on the occasion of the 2500th anniversary of the Iranian monarchy under the name Shahyad Tower (translated as: " Memorial of the Shah " ) was built. After the Iranian Revolution of 1979, he was renamed Azadi Tower.

The architect, Hossein Amanat, built by Iranian commissioned by Farah Pahlavi Schahbanu tower is 45 meters high and is a combination of Islamic architecture and the style of the Sassanids dar. He is completely covered with over 25,000 white, broken in Isfahan marble stones. The tower is part of the Azadi cultural complex, which can be found on the more than 50,000 m² of Azadi Square in Tehran. Under the tower there is a museum and several fountains.
