Azalea Park is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Orange County in the U.S. state of Florida with 12,556 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Azalea Park is adjacent to Orlando. The CDP is traversed or affected by the Florida State Roads 50, 408 ( Spessard L. Holland East - West Expressway, a toll road ), 436, 551 and 552.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 12,556 inhabitants distributed to 4,948 households. The population density was 1512.8 inh. / Km ². 67.4 % of the population were white, 10.3% African American, 0.4% Native American and 3.7 % Asian Americans. 14.0% were members of other ethnic groups and 4.2% in different ethnic groups. 59.0 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 21.5 % of all households lived in 38.2 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 68.3 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.82 persons and the average family size is 3.30 people.

28.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 31.3 % were 20-39 years old, 26.0% were 40-59 years old and 14.5 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 33 years. 49.5 % of the population were male and 50.5 % female.

The average annual income was $ 37,687, while 19.3 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 61.97 % of the population spoke Spanish 36.23 % and 1.80 % had a different mother tongue.

Economy

A significant industry, there is not. The main employment sectors are: education, health and social services: ( 16.6%), trade / retail ( 15.6%), finance, insurance and real estate (3.0 % ), construction ( 10.1%).

Parks and sports facilities

There is a wide range of 17 different city parks as well as several sports facilities and playing fields and facilities for camping. Sports options include softball, baseball, football, basketball, soccer and swimming are offered.

Crime

The crime rate has an index of 229.0 points. (Compare U.S. national average: 330.6 points) 2002, there were two murders, 16 rapes, 43 robberies, 106 assaults on people, 130 burglaries, 365 thefts and 96 car thefts.
