Backward running

Backward running indicates a trend in running, over longer distances to run backwards. Meanwhile distances are discharged from several kilometers and relay races in competitions.

History

The idea of ​​backward running as a sport has been around a long time. Already in 1826 this figure skating was mentioned for the first time. As a pioneer in Retro Running the Frenchman Christian GROLLE, which since 1978 dealing with this type of running and Roland Wegner, who promoted the sport under the name "Retro Running" since 2001 and a book of the same shall apply ( Publisher Spomedis ) has published. In 1992, the first reverse competition in Europe was held in Poviglio / Italy. Meanwhile, there are backward runs in Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, New Zealand, North and South America, India and South Africa. In 2005, on the initiative of pioneer Roland Wegner with representatives from Germany, Austria, France and Switzerland, the International Association of Retro Runner ( IRR) was established with the aim to carry out international championships.

Description
