Badagry

Badagry is a city in Nigeria and the westernmost of the 20 Local Government Areas ( LGA ) of Lagos State.

Geography

The city is located in the extreme southwest of Badagry Nigeria on a lagoon. The distance to the Beninese capital Porto Novo is only about 15 km, Lagos Iceland, however, is about 31 km away.

History

Badagry was founded in the early 15th century and became an important port for the slave trade. From 1737 to 1748 Badagry was a Dutch colony.
