The Bahr Yusuf (Arabic بحر يوسف, Yūsuf DMG Bahr, Joseph's Channel ') is a tributary of the Nile in Egypt, which feeds the Fayyum basin.

Under the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Amenemhet II, the natural course of the river Nile, this side arm was converted into a channel in order to ensure a continuous water supply to the Fayyum oasis-like - basin, which is located about 100 km southwest of Cairo, and the towns and cities as Fayyum. It flows into the endorheic Lake Qarun, which is approximately 45 m below sea level.

Even in the Nile valley branches off at El - Lahun, located at the eastern entrance of the Fayyum basin on conducting valley, which runs parallel to the Nile to the north leading Giza channel from the Bahr Yusuf.

It received its name because the Arab population attributed its origin to the work of the patriarch Joseph as Vizier of Pharaoh in the Middle Ages.
