Băicoi

Băicoi is a city in Prahova county in the Wallachia region of Romania.

Location

Băicoi is located on the southeast side of the Carpathian Mountains on a plateau above the river Prahova. The county seat Ploieşti is situated about 15 km south-east.

History

The town boomed after 1879 made ​​the completion of the railway from Ploiesti to Predeal, which passes west of Băicoi; it was among other things a petroleum refinery. Traffic

Băicoi is - as already mentioned - not far from the railway line opened in 1879, which is part of the long distance from Bucharest to Oradea today.
