Bajram Kosumi

Bajram Kosumi ( born March 20, 1960 in Kosovska Kamenica in Tuxhec, SR Serbia, Yugoslavia ) is a Kosovo Albanian politician and held office from 23 March 2005 to 1 March 2006 as Prime Minister of Kosovo.

Kosumi studied philology and earned a degree in Albanian literature at the University of Pristina. Already as a student he was politically active. He was sentenced in 1981 for his part in the student protests in Prishtina to a prison term of 15 years. In 1991 he was released from prison. Then he worked until 1993 as a journalist.

From 1994 to 1996 and from 2000 to 2002 he was Chairman of the Parliamentary Party of the disputed region of Kosovo (Albanian partia parlamentar e Kosovës ), one of the four parties, which under the name Alliance for the Future of Kosovo ( Alb. Aleanca për Ardhmërinë e Kosovës, AAK ) compete together in the parliamentary elections. The AAK is one of the political successors of the KLA. Currently Kosumi is the deputy chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo.

Kosumi 1999 she took part in the negotiations in Rambouillet on the status of Kosovo, in part, the failure of which led to the war against Serbia and the occupation of Kosovo by UN troops. Kosumi advocated the violent struggle of the paramilitary " Kosovo Liberation Army " ( KLA ), but did not intervene themselves to arms.

In December 2004, he assumed the office of Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning in Kosovo and was elected in March 2005 for the third Prime Minister of Kosovo. Ramush Haradinaj He broke off in the office and remained prime minister until March 2006, when Agim Çeku became his successor.

Kosumi is married and has four children.
