Baltschieder

Baltschieder ( Valais German: Baltschieder ) is a municipality in the district of Visp in the German-speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

The community Baltschieder is on the right side of the Rhone in the center of the Upper Valais. She is a neighboring town of Visp. Baltschieder is the Welsh community that statistically, during the last few years has seen the largest growth of the resident population. The population has more than doubled in the last twenty years, from 500 inhabitants in 1981 to 1000 « Baltschiedner " in 1997. 2011 the village had 1200 inhabitants. This increase in population was accompanied by a construction boom, especially in the valley to the west. The "inner village " is located at the output of Baltschiedertals with the same name Bach, who had brought in 2000 a lot of unhappiness about the village. Parts of its territory, in particular the Baltschiedertal range since 2002 a UNESCO World Heritage Site declared mountain Jungfrau-Aletsch -Bietschhorn. At the upper end of the Baltschiedertals which are mostly present on the municipality Baltschiedergletscher.
