Saas-Balen

Saas -Balen ( until 31 December 2006 officially Saas Balen ) is a Munizipalgemeinde ( municipality ) in the district of Visp in the German-speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

Saas -Balen is the first, smallest and most northerly of the four Saastalgemeinden ( Saas -Fee, Saas -Grund and Saas -Almagell ). The town's landmark is the historic Round Church and the Fellbach waterfall.

The Fellbach has brought centuries repeatedly devastation and destruction of the village.

Saas -Balen has only one ski lift right in the village. Saas -Balen is more of a cozy and smaller place, the next larger villages of Saas -Grund, Saas -Almagell and Saas -Fee are run better to ski / snowboard. Along the river ( Saas Vispa ), the cross-country route from Saas -Balen above Saas -Grund to Saas -Almagell and Eiualp (1930 m) extends below the Matt Mark reservoir.
