Bamberg–Scheßlitz railway

The railway line Bamberg Schesslitz, colloquially referred to as Schääzer Bockerla ( Upper Franconian for Scheßlitz kid ), was a branch line in Bavaria. It ran over about 14 miles from Bamberg to Scheßlitz.

History

The track was built in 1908 for the first time traveled. My passenger was set on 31 May 1985, the freight Bruckertshof - Scheßlitz May 27, 1988., The tracks were dismantled in the winter of the same year to Bruckertshof. The section Bamberg to Bruckertshof was decommissioned on 31 October 2001. Between Bamberg and Memmelsdorf the embankment is built over the A 70 / A 73, but is down to a few points by not completely removed roadbed still clearly visible. On the route between Memmelsdorf and Scheßlitz a bicycle was built. The only surviving station building in Memmelsdorf and Scheßlitz be used for other purposes. The station building of Memmelsdorf was restored and converted for 180,000 DM and now houses the local choral society. The station building in Scheßlitz is storage space of Scheßlitz Heimatkundliches lichen association.

A scheduled train service between Scheßlitz and Hollfeld, the terminus of the railway line Bayreuth Hollfeld, was abandoned in 1906 after extensive preparatory work, as both places were the project to fail. The reason but not the high construction costs (about two million dollars), but that both cities were the lucrative status of end stations preferred. The space in between was to become the trading domain. When the " district council " of the Royal Bavarian district Scheßlitz for the construction of a route Scheßlitz - Hollfeld approved a grant of 70 000 mark, the city Scheßlitz the grant of 50 000 marks granted to railway construction Bamberg Scheßlitz demanded back again when the route Hollfeld should be built.

The operation on the route was limited. 1944 reversed four pairs daily.
