Bánovce nad Bebravou District

The Okres Bánovce nad Bebravou ( German Banowitz district ) is an administrative region in western Slovakia with 38,385 inhabitants ( 2004) and an area of 462 km ².

The district is located in the northeastern part of the western Slovakia bordered to the north by the District Trenčín, on the east by the district Prievidza, on the southeast by the district Partizánske, on the southwest by the district Topoľčany in Nitriansky kraj and for a short distance in the west to the district Nové Mesto nad Váhom. It extends along the valley of the Bebrava and includes part of Strážovské hills and the Inowetz and Nitransky hill country ( Nitrianska pahorkatina ).

Historically, it is for the most part in the former county of Trenčín (north), a small part in the south part of the former county Neutra (see also List of historic counties of Hungary ).
