Uhrovec

Uhrovec (Hungarian Zayugróc ) is a municipality in the north-western Slovakia, in the mountains Strážovské hills. It is located about 8 km from Bánovce nad Bebravou and 30 km from Trenčín away.

History

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1258 as Vgrovg. Until 1918, the place was in the Kingdom of Hungary in Trenčín county, after which he came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. By 1945, a large part of the town was under the rule of Zay family, this was also a district of his Hungarian name. The inhabitants were mainly engaged in agriculture, viticulture, in the sheep and also in fishing. Mid 19th century, was also a timber in place, this exists as Drevovýrobu sro until today, the glass industry which at times of J. Schreiber & nephew was but is no longer existent.

In 1968 the further south Látkovce village was incorporated.
