Banský Studenec

Banský Studenec ( until 1948 slovak " Kolpachy "; German co [h ] lbach or Goldbach, Hungarian Tópatak - to 1892 Kolpach ) is a small municipality in Okres Banská Štiavnica ( Banskobystrický kraj ) in the middle of Slovakia, with 457 inhabitants (as at 31 December. , 2011).

The municipality is located in the eastern part of the Selmec mountains by the brook Jasenica, eight kilometers east of Banská Štiavnica. In the municipality there are two tajchy ( " reservoirs " ) - Velky and Maly kolpašský tajch kolpašský tajch.

The town was first mentioned in 1266 as Kulpach writing. He belonged in the 14th century the city Schemnitz. In addition to mining the inhabitants were also active in coal distillery, forestry and metallurgy. At its peak, the site had 1,200 inhabitants, according to the widespread closure of the mines in the early 19th century, the population has declined sharply. In 1828 the town had 66 houses and 398 inhabitants.

In Banský Studenec is a baroque Roman Catholic church from the years 1743-45 and a wooden bell tower from the early 19th century.
