Bar Kappara

Bar Qappara ( so common in the Talmud, nor Bar Kappara; actually R. Eleazar ben Eleazar ha - Qappar, and R. Eleazar ha - Qappar beRabbi ) was a Jewish scholar of antiquity, is counted among the Tannaim of the fifth generation and participated in two. / 3 century AD.

He was the son of Eleazar hakappar and belonged to the circle of the Mishnah of Judah ha-Nasi, redactor and among these to the older, very independent colleagues with deviations from and additions to the Mishnah. He taught at Caesarea and had a "School in the South" (probably Lydda ), where he might Sifre Zuta edited. Due to its serene mind and his wit he was ha-Nasi banished several times from his circle of described as very serious Judah.

According to present knowledge, he was the only Hebrew poet known at this time and as such, until you knew better assess his halachic significance.

He was with Judah ha-Nasi, when he died, and brought the people the news of his death in poetic speech.
