Bärenreiter

The Barenreiter -Verlag is a publisher of classical music, based in Kassel. In addition to the scores for musicians, the publisher also publishes an extensive series of books. Barenreiter employs 140 people, most of them in Kassel. He also has offices in Basel, London, New York and Prague. The company is headed by Barbara SCHEUCH Vötterle and Leonhard tickler.

As a joint issue between Barenreiter Metzler and the German -speaking musicological encyclopaedia "The music in past and present " appears. Also musicological annuals such as the contactor Yearbook since 1979 belong to the publishing program.

The publication of contemporary music was from the beginning in the publishing program. History

1923-1940

The publishing house was founded in 1923 by Karl Vötterle in Augsburg. Among the first releases were the " Finkensteiner leaves ", edited by Walther Hensel. 1927 moved to the publisher to Kassel.

1980-2000
