Bartolomeo Carlo Romilli

Bartolomeo Carlo Romilli ( born March 14, 1795 in Bergamo, † May 7, 1859 in Milan ) was Archbishop of Milan.

Life

Romilli, who came from a noble family, received on 31 May 1817, the deacons and seven months later the priest.

On 3 October 1845 he was instituted by Pope Gregory XVI. appointed as the new Bishop of Cremona. He received episcopal consecration until June 21, 1846 by Carlo Gritti Morlacchi, Bishop of Bergamo. Just one year later, Bartolomeo Carlo Romilli Archbishop of Milan. During his tenure, there were repeated rebellions, which were kindled by Romillis indulgence of the Austrian government. Of poor health, he suffered a stroke in 1858 and was from then supported by his Vicar General and later successor Paolo Angelo Ballerini. He died the following year at the age of 64 years.
