Basket Zielona Góra

Stelmet Zielona Góra, also known as " Zastal Zielona Góra " is a Polish basketball club from Zielona Góra, one of the two capitals of Lubusz Voivodeship. In the 2013/14 season, the club plays in the Polish league and in the ULEB Euro League.

History

The club was founded in 1946. Initially the club played only regional competitions. After the team had risen to a regional size, the club launched under the name Zastal 1967 in the national competitions. The rise in the highest Polish league succeeded in 1984. Zielona Góra played in the top division until 1996 and then once between 1998 and 2001. Was followed two downs in a row and then a few years in the Second Polish league, the first league. At the end of the 2010 season was the rise again firmly in the highest league. In the season 2010/11 Zastal missed the playoffs just barely. In the 2011/12 season succeeded the distinguished team of moving into the semi-finals of the play-offs, thus qualifying for the Eurocup. Only a year later Zielona Góra was for the first time Polish champion.
