Batesville is a city in Independence County in the U.S. state of Arkansas with 9,500 inhabitants ( 2004) and the county seat of administration ( County Seat). The metropolitan area has a size of 27.5 km ².

Batesville is the second oldest city in Arkansas and was named after James Woodson Bates. The first settlement in the present Batesville began in 1810. Joined the place became a city on 25 September 1839. For the school-based training, the resident at the place Lyon College provides.
