Bathelémont

Bathelémont is a commune with 60 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. Administratively it belongs to the district Luneville and Canton Arracourt. She is also a member of the Association of Local Authorities was founded in 1998 Pays du Sânon.

Geography

Arracourt is located at 270 m above sea level, about twelve kilometers north of the town of Luneville and about 25 kilometers east of the city of Nancy.

The district includes a portion of the hill country between the Mosel tributaries Sânon in the south and in the north seille. The northern boundary of the municipality marks the watershed between the two rivers. Here, in the forest Bois du Sentier de Vie is achieved with 335 m above sea level, the highest point of the municipality. History

The name first appears Bathelémont in the late 11th century on in a deed of Countess Sophia of Bar.

In the Middle Ages, the village was divided into two dominions: one part was subject to the bishop of Metz, the other belonged to the Duke of Lorraine. Personalities

On February 3, 1753 was born in Bathelémont Jean -Nicolas Stofflet, one of the leaders of the revolt in the Vendée.
