Bayview (TTC)

Bayview is an underground subway station in Toronto. It lies on the Sheppard line of the Toronto Subway, at the intersection of Sheppard Avenue and Bayview Avenue. The station, which has a central platform, is used daily by an average of 8,200 passengers (2009 /10).

In the immediate vicinity is the Bayview Village Shopping Centre. It offers connecting flights to two bus lines. The opening of the station took place on 24 November 2002, together with the entire Sheppard line between Sheppard - Yonge and Don Mills.

For the design of the station, the architectural firm Stevens Group Architects was responsible. Particularly striking is the entrance building on the northeast side of the intersection with a long, angled and overhanging roof, reminiscent of the expressionist architecture of the mid-20th century. The manifold layer is decorated with op art art Panya Clark Espinal. Depending on where he stands viewer, painted on the walls and the ground objects seem to float in the air.
