Bessarion (TTC)

Bessarion is an underground subway station in Toronto. It lies on the Sheppard line of the Toronto Subway, at the intersection of Sheppard Avenue and Bessarion Road / Burbank Drive. The station, which has a central platform, is used daily by an average of 2,590 passengers (2009 /10). This Bessarion is the second lowest -traffic station of the network, due to the low density of development around to Ellesmere.

There is a transfer possibility to a bus route. The opening of the station took place on 24 November 2002, together with the entire Sheppard line between Sheppard - Yonge and Don Mills. The importance of the station is expected to increase significantly in the near future. This is due to the establishment of the Concord Park Place on the site of a former tire warehouse from Canadian Tire. This new district is in the final stage include 20 high-rise buildings with 5,000 apartments.

For the Artistic design Sylvie Bélanger was responsible. She made friezes with pictures of hands, feet and heads, which are supposed to represent the users of the station. The feet appear at the distribution level, the heads on the pillars of the platform and the hands along the stairs to the north entrance.
