Beacon Square is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Pasco County in the U.S. state of Florida with 7,224 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Beacon Square is located on the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 60 km west of Dade City and about 40 km northwest of Tampa. The CDP 19 is affected by the U. S. Highway.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 7,224 inhabitants distributed to 4,130 households. The population density was 1389.2 inh. / Km ². 90.2 % of the population were white, 3.1% African American, 0.3% Native American and 1.6% Asian Americans. 2.2% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.5% in different ethnic groups. 9.9% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 38.6 % of all households lived in 24.5 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 58.1 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.22 persons and the average family size is 2.78 people.

21.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 22.7 % were 20-39 years old, 26.9 % were 40-59 years old and 29.3% were at least 60 years old. The median age was 45 years. 47.7 % of the population were male and 52.3 % female.

The average annual income was $ 36,250, while 14.5 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 92.30 % of the population spoke Spanish, 2.74% and 4.96% had a different mother tongue.

Economy

A significant industry, there is not. The main employment sectors are: education, health and social services: ( 26.2 %), trade / retail ( 16.3% ), future technologies, management, administration ( 11.8 %).

Clinics

The city itself has no clinic. For medical treatments that make an outpatient or inpatient stay is necessary, the residents need to visit one of the nearby hospitals: The North Bay Hospital in New Port Richey, about 5 km away, the Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs, about 8 km or the Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson, about 20 km away.

Parks and sports facilities

There is a small supply of various city parks as well as several sports facilities and playing fields and facilities for camping and barbecues.
