Beatrice d'Este, Queen of Hungary

Beatrix of Este (* 1215, † 1245 ) was by marriage Queen of Hungary.

She was the daughter of the Marquis of Este Aldobrandini I. (* 1190, † 1215).

After his first two wives Gertrude of Andechs and Jolante Courtenay had died, she was married on May 14, 1234 with the almost forty years older than King Andrew II of Hungary.

The marriage lasted only briefly, as Andrew II died after only 16 months. The young widow survived her husband only by ten years and died in 1245 at the age of only 30 years.

With Andrew II she had a son, Stefan ( * 1235, † 1272 ), Duke of Slavonia, who was born shortly before the death of his father. The Hungarian royal throne inherited his older half- brother Béla IV.
