The Beauceron is a by the Fédération Internationale Cynologique (FCI) recognized French breed (FCI Group 1, Section 1, Standard No. 44). Since 2007, the breed is also recognized by the AKC.

Origin and History

The origins of the breed are in France in one of the herding dog blows of transhumance. Around the 19th century, this breed began to emerge. 1889, the first breed standard was created.

Description

The Beauceron is a large (up to 70 cm) dog that is reminiscent in its overall appearance to a stockier output of a Doberman or a slim edition of Rottweilers. As a special feature of the Beauceron has double dewclaws. The hair is strong, short, thick, close fitting, 3-4 cm long in black with tan fire or blue speckled with tan markings: gray, black and tan. Nature
