Bechara Boutros al-Rahi
Béchara Pierre Cardinal OMM Raï (Arabic مار بشارة بطرس الراعي, DMG Mār Bisara Butrus ar -Ra ʿ ī; born February 25, 1940 in Himlaya, Governorate Mount Lebanon, Lebanon ) is Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and all the East.
Life
Béchara Raï resigned after his schooling at the College Notre -Dame in Louayzé in the Mariamitischen Maronite Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome.
Raï received on 3 September 1967, the sacrament of Holy Orders. He received his doctorate at the Pontifical Lateran University in Canon Law. In addition, he earned a licentiate in Catholic theology. Béchara Raï was director of the Scholasticate Mariamitischen the Maronite Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Rome. He founded the Institute of Foreign Languages in Louayzé. Then Raï was director of the school in Santa Rita Dbaye and judge at the patriarchal church court.
On 2 May 1986 Béchara Raï was appointed Titular Bishop of Caesarea Philippi, he appointed auxiliary bishop in the Maronite Patriarchate of Antioch. He received his episcopal consecration on 12 July 1986, the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, Nasrallah Pierre Sfeir; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops in the Maronite Patriarchate of Antioch, Roland Aboujaoudé and Georges Abi- Saber OLM, and the bishop of the Eparchy of Jounieh, Chucrallah Harb, the Archbishop of archeparchy Cyprus, Joseph Mohsen Béchara, the Archbishop of archeparchy Beirut, Khalil Abi- Nader, Archbishop Emeritus of Beirut archeparchy, Ignace Ziadé, the Archbishop of archeparchy Tripoli, Antoine Joubeir, Archbishop Emeritus of archeparchy Cyprus, Elie Farah, the bishop of the Eparchy of Cairo, Joseph Merhi CML, and the bishop of the Eparchy of Sidon, Ibrahim Hélou. On June 9, 1990 Béchara Raï was appointed bishop of the Eparchy of Jbeil.
On 15 March 2011 Béchara Raï by the Synod of the Maronite was elected to Bkerke the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, and took, as with Maronite Patriarch usual, in addition to the name of Pierre (Peter) in his name on. In addition, he was bishop of the Eparchy Joubbé, Sarba and Jounieh. The inauguration took place on March 25, 2011. In solemn consistory of November 24, 2012 it took Benedict XVI. as cardinal bishop to the College of Cardinals.
