Bees Make Honey

Bees Make Honey was a pub rock band that was popular in the first half of the 1970s in London.

History

The Englishman Barry Richardson ( bass) came in the late 1960s to London. Previously, he had played in Ireland, where he had studied in the bands " The Alpine Seven" and " Bluesville ". In London he played jazz in " Brian Lemon Trio" and country-rock in the band " Jan & the Southerners ." With his former Irish musician colleagues Ruan O'Lochlainn (saxophone ), Deke O'Brien ( guitar, vocals) and Mick Molloy (guitar ) and the American Bob " Cee " Siebenberg (drums, later with Supertramp ) he founded in 1971 a first nameless band to perform in the Tally Ho Pub, as well as Eggs over Easy. As of January 1972, they were called " Bees Make Honey".

Their manager was Dave Robinson, who also Brinsley Schwarz had under contract. Robinson got them appearances in other pubs. They released a single in 1973 under EMI, Knee Trembler / Caldonia, and an album, Music Every Night. Then there were several line-up changes. A second album was recorded, but not released by EMI. A further attempt to bring out an album with DJM Records failed. In 1974 the band broke up.

Later, there was a reunion of Bees Make Honey. Four tracks recorded live in December 1976, came out in 1977 as an EP. Recordings of the band later appeared on various compilations.
