Benátky (Hradec Králové District)

Benátky ( German Benatek ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located ten kilometers south-east of Hořice and belongs to Okres Hradec Králové.

Geography

Benátky is located on the East Bohemian panel on the left side of the Bystřice. In the south, the hills Svib ( Swiep, 330 m) rises. South of the village is the battlefield of the Battle of Hradec Kralove with numerous memorial stones. West of Benatek runs the Trasser the railway Hořice - Hradec Králové, the railway station " Hněvčeves " is on the one kilometer west of the village. In the north, the branch line of Hněvčeves passes by Smiřice.

Neighboring towns are Cerekvice nad Bystřicí and Želkovice in the north, Vrchovnice in the northeast, and Pazderna Hořiněves in the east, in the southeast Máslojedy, Čistěves in the south, and Dohalice Sadová in the southwest, and Sovětice Hněvčeves in the west and Třebovětice in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village was in 1349, when it had transferred the monastery Wrchlab the Opatovicky Abt January Neplach on the instructions of the Prague Archbishop Ernest of Pardubice.

After the abolition of patrimonial Benátky formed in 1850 a municipality in the district Koniginhof. On July 3, 1866 met during the German war west of the village in Swiepwald the warring Prussian and Austrian troops on each other. The bloody battle, which extended even to the hill Chlum is entered as Battle of Hradec Kralove in the story.

1949, the village was incorporated into Hořiněves and came to the same Okres Jaroměř. From 1 January 1961, the municipality Benátky arose again, they then became part of the Okres Hradec Králové. 1980 was a turn annexation to Hořiněves, which existed until 1990. Since then, the community Benátky there again.
