Benjamin Jason Horton

Benjamin Jason Horton ( born September 8, 1873 in Lawrence, Kansas, † 1963) was an American politician and Acting in 1934 governor of Puerto Rico.

Career

Benjamin Horton was born in Lawrence and later started as a member of the Democratic Party a political career. At an unknown date he came to Puerto Rico. Between 1912 and 1932 he took part in this territory as a delegate to the respective Democratic National Conventions, 1912 and 1916 on which Woodrow Wilson and 1932 Franklin D. Roosevelt was nominated as the presidential candidate. From 1932 to 1940 he was a member of the Democratic National Committee.

Between 1933 and 1935 he held the office of Attorney General of Puerto Rico. During this time he was appointed in January 1934 to the local Commissary governor. He held this post for about a month. He bridged so that the time between the departure of his predecessor Robert Hayes Gore and the inauguration of the new governor Blanton Winship. After 1940, the track from Jason Horton loses.
