Benoit Turretin

Bénédict Turrettini ( born November 9, 1588 Zurich, † March 4, 1631 in Geneva) was a Swiss Reformed theologian.

His father Francesco was like that of Giovanni Diodati a belief refugee from Lucca; the family moved first to Lyon, Antwerp and Zurich birthplace of Benedict finally moved to Geneva in 1591.

From 1602 to 1609 Turrettini studied in Geneva, Heidelberg, Franeker and Leiden theology, was ordained in 1611 in Geneva as pastor and began in the same year his teaching at the Academy of Geneva. 1620 to 1625 he served as its rector and in November 1627, he was taken with his father in the city of Geneva law.

As a father of François Turrettini and grandfather of Jean- Alphonse Turrettini Bénédict Turrettini was the founder of a dynasty Geneva theologian (see also: Turrettini ).
