Bernhard Nebel

Bernhard Nebel (born 6 May 1956) is a German scientist of computer science and artificial intelligence.

He is a professor at the Albert- Ludwigs- University of Freiburg, where he holds the Chair of Foundations of Artificial Intelligence at the Department of computer science. He is best known for his contributions to the action planning, spatial reasoning, and robotics. His CS Freiburg RoboCup team in 1998, 2000 and 2001 world champion in the class of medium-sized robots in the RoboCup. Bernhard Nebel and his group also developed the first autonomous table soccer system.

Bernhard Nebel received his diploma from the University of Hamburg in 1980. He received his doctorate in 1989 at the University of Saarland. His doctor father was Wolfgang Wahlster.

Bernhard Nebel is a Fellow of the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence ( ECCAI ) and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence ( AAAI ). He is also a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.
